Viral Video Skit: Do You Wanna Be White?

Another great viral video skit for Seoulful Productions, Los Angeles with the talented Zoe Kim (Writer of Meet Me At A Funeral). Stars Alison Kohlhardt and Kaylen Marie. I lit this entire scene with an LED fresnel and flashlight... and a lot of bouncers, reflectors and flags off camera.

Uploaded to Facebook and shared around social media, the skit chalked up over 10,000 views in the first few days. Good job guys!

Reclamation VFX/SFX shot preview. Whoah!

I had such a wonderful experience this month in Los Angeles and had a blast working with the fantastic team of Loveman Media (great job, Tom!). Entrusted as Director of Photography on this Sci-Fi pilot, we had custom sets built at OneStar Studios, LA. One of the most painstaking shots was an opening sequence which has a spaceship/drone wake up our protagonist, Cassie Aquino. Well it was 3am when we shot the live action sequence and now that Reclamation has entered post production, here is a sneak peak of this shot!

There is something like 20 layers of stuff including matte painting, cloud and smoke layers, the drone miniature, live action set with smoke, camera motion/push and the lighting. Notice that the lighting effects all coincide (hurrah!) with the movement of the drone. Nice one.

Wrapped Principal Photography for Edward Plowright's "The Conversation"

Edward Plowright may come across very New-York-ish with his New York accent and his affinity for America... but thats only because he is from New York (surprise, surprise!) and he comes from a long standing family of show business that spans from New York to London to Sydney. It may then come as no surprise that his latest short film is aimed directly at America.

Do not mistake the sniper crosshairs as anything but a metaphor for what is in his sights for this up and coming film. "The Conversation" is an awakening and brings forth a message for the casual observer to wake up from their slumber. I can't say too much more, only that as I was filming this wonderful piece of cinema, it made me stop and think and wonder. Please stay tuned for this film as it moves through editing and post production.
